At the time of this report, 180,000 part-time soldiers were on active duty supporting the military action in Iraq. Approximately 3,000 troops from Washington State had just been deployed in the state's largest call up since World War II. Many "weekend warriors" never imagined their service would lead them to a year-long assignment in Iraq. This series won the 2005 Regional Edward R. Murrow award for Best Series.
